Default Australia, Canada, NZ and UK support EU-style free movement, new poll says

Thoughts?

http://www.abc.net.au/news/2016-03-1...l-says/7242634

The survey, carried out by The Royal Commonwealth Society, shows significant levels of support for a European Union-style system of free movement between the four nations.
Seventy per cent of Australians were in favour of the idea with only one in ten opposed.

Support was stronger among Canadians (75 per cent), New Zealanders (82 per cent) and people under the age of 35.

Having been to Europe dozens of times, it is the greatest feeling being able to drive through a country's borders without being stopped or asked any questions. True freedom.

Having been to the US all the time, it's a great feeling just being in a big enough country where this doesn't matter.

However I don't think this will work very well for countries so far away but maybe I'm wrong. Australia and NZ sure...Canada and UK nah.

The waiting lines at the airports whenever I travel to somewhere outside the EU are ridiculous. So it'd be nice, but it'll probably have less impact compared to the EU because people only travel between these countries via airplanes

You're so triggered.

Those agreements are easier to make when all the involved countries are first world countries

Well a lot of the EU isn't "1st world", so there's that. It's also got some problems and is weirdly set up. Not to say I don't appreciate the idea or execution.

Wasn't it sort of like that before with the US/Canada/Mexico borders? Not exactly the same, there was still a checkpoint, but you didn't need a passport AFAIK.

Why wasn't the US included in the survey? They have all the other 'major' English-speaking countries.

And I agree with Nismo/Member, traveling between those countries is enough of a time and money investment that I don't think it will make many more people decide to travel between the countries.
